“Lest We Forget” is also a traveling museum exhibit of authentic slavery items. The presentation includes all aspects of slavery including the Middle Passage, Slave Auctions, Underground Railroad, Lynchings and the Jim Crow Era (period following Reconstruction).

We bring our collection to schools, churches, family reunions, conferences, conventions, social, community groups, etc. It is a compelling collection and an excellent teaching tool about a tragic period in American history. The program is presented in a thoughtful and sensitive manner suitable for all age groups.

BRING HISTORY ALIVE WITH A PRESENTATION OF  “LEST WE FORGET”

Dear Lest We Forget Friends,

It has been 10 years since we began publicly showing our private collection of slavery artifacts and Jim Crow memorabilia. During those years we have taken our traveling slavery museum all over the country and the Caribbean. The recent openings of our (2) museum locations, 3650 Richmond St. Philadelphia, PA 19134 and 327 White Horse Pike, Lawnside, NJ 08045 was monumental and a long-time coming. Since opening, we have received numerous accolades from our visitors, which make us realize how much our museum is needed and appreciated. We are committed to telling our rich African history and the trials and tribulations of our slave ancestors to bring recognition to the price that was paid for the freedoms we take for granted today. Our greatest commitment is to teaching young people of all ethnicities about the enduring spirit of African American people and the contributions they made in the building of America. We particularly want to make sure that young African Americans are knowledgeable of their history so that they can incorporate that awareness into their decision-making abilities.

While we have applied for grants we primarily support our operation out-of-pocket. To maintain our museums, sustain our collection, and present our traveling exhibits we need funds. Many of you have asked how you can support our efforts and your consideration is greatly appreciated. As a result, we are now accepting donations on our website www.lestweforgetmuseumofslavery.com. Donations can also be mailed to Lest We Forget Museum P.O. Box 26846, Philadelphia, Pa 19134. Please make checks payable to Lest We Forget. We are a 501©3 organization and your contributions are tax-exempt. Contributions at any level are welcome. Contributors of $500.00 or more will receive a “Friends of Lest We Forget” package that include a membership card that will provide free admission for (1) year to both museums, a (1) year open invitation to our scheduled programs and a free copy of our award winning documentary. Your support will further enable us to reach audiences that need to hear our message. We are about to embark on a critical period in our history and to better appreciate and understand “from whence we came” we must reach back and embrace our slave ancestry so that we can move forward more effectively - Lest We Forget.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and support. You can also support us by visiting our museums or schedule a traveling slavery program. Our hours are Wed.–Sun. 10:00am–6:00pm By Appointment Only!  Call (888) 886-LEST or (5378).

Thank You,

J. Justin & Gwen Ragsdale, Curators
